Heather Godmar is a licensed massage therapist, graduating in 2013 from the Solace Institute (now known as Mind Body Institute). She helps people needing rehab after injury resulting from repetitive and over use activities, exercise injuries, and trauma.
Her approach to bodywork is that the body is like silly putty. A hard, fast touch puts the body on edge and restricts the practitioner’s ability to reach in to the layers of soft tissue effectively. However, a broad, gradual application of pressure allows the tissue time to receive and process the neurological touch messages that create change and therefore healing. In practical terms for example, her use of deep tissue massage includes many techniques that therapeutically treat muscles as well as other connective tissue and does not include hard pressure as a means to beat out the tension.
